Frequently Asked Questions
What will happen after you contact me?
You may have already arranged when and where the funeral will be taking place but if not, I am able to put you in touch with your nearest crematorium or funeral home. We will make arrangements over the telephone for me to come and meet you in the comfort of your own home, if that is where you would like to meet. I will introduce myself and we will discuss exactly the type of funeral you would like me to conduct. To begin with I always like you to tell me about your loved one to share with me the sort of person they were and what they were like. A personal thing to me, if the family are happy to do so, is to see a photograph of their loved one so that I really get a feel for the person they are telling me about. I am very approachable and easy to communicate with. I want the family to really feel at ease and to at no point feel rushed. I like to spend a few hours with the family, if that is what they require, so that they may tell me all about their loved one. I like to put the eulogy together, which is basically the story of their life, with the family so that they know exactly what I am going to say and that everything is left clearly explained to them. I then put everything neatly together.
Can we select music to play during the ceremony?
You can choose a selection of music you would like and we can discuss where we will play it during the ceremony. I can always advise you about what seems to work best and I will then prepare the songs so that there is one less thing for you to worry about on the lead up to the funeral.
Do you think this song would be suitable at a funeral?
People often ask me about certain songs and my answer is simple. There are no right or wrong songs for any funeral. This is your time and your safe space where you can play any song you like. I would never judge any choice of song as it really is a very personal thing and every family is different.
Can we select a prayer or a poem to be read?
If you would like a prayer or a poem to be read, or to read one yourself, then I have a selection which you might like to choose from or even one you have found or written yourself.
